Syntax of REPLACE Function

Syntax: REPLACE(old_text,start_num,num_chars,new_text)

Arguments:- All 4 arguments are compulsory arguments.

1st Argument(old_text) Here we have to give original text where we want to do replace.

2nd Argument(start_num) Here we have to give the start position of the text which we want to replace.

3rd argument(num_chars) Here we have to give the length or numbers characters of the text which we want to replace.

4th Argument(new_text) Here we need to give the new text, that is with what text we want to replace old text.

Usage of REPLACE function

1st Argument We have Original Text in B5 it “Excel is Microsoft Product”

2nd Argument we have manually given the number 1 as the text Excel is starting from the first position.

3rd Argument we have entered manually 5 as text “Excel” has 5 letters.

4th Argument we have given reference to cell B6 and whatever text we have in cell B6 will replace the Excel.

Only Change in 3rd Argument we have used LEN function to count the letters in text EXCEL. To avoid manual errors.

Only Change in 2nd Argument we have used SEARCH function to search position of the EXCEL in the original text. This will avoid the manual errors, it is difficult to count the position of the EXCEL in a big sentence.
